Committees

If you are interested in joining any of these committees, contact the director of that committee at the email addresses provided (click on Chair Names). Please check the Events and Meetings Calendar for Committee meeting dates and locations.

Construction Chair: JC Rodgers
Makes decisions on construction site procedures and policies. People who have an interest and are knowledgeable in home construction supervise volunteers on the work site on Saturdays. This can include architects, people who know building codes, carpenters, concrete workers, plumbers, electricians and building supply people.  Meets the first Thursday of each month at 5:30pm.

Community Relations Chair: Brenda Whiteley
Volunteers are asked to share Habitat’s mission, accomplishments and goals with the Community and assist with special events.

Family Selection Chair: Hannah Walker
This committee is made up of people willing to participate in orientation/informational meetings designed to recruit applicants for homeownership. You will interview and work with families who have made an application to be a partner family with Habitat. Our selection process occurs up to two times per year. The committee reviews applications on the basis of the family selection guidelines and conduct home visits for each applicant.

Family Support Chair: Hannah Walker
Volunteers work with partner families before, during and after construction of their house to ensure that they know general Habitat rules, everything involved in completing their sweat equity and homeowner educational support requirements. You will also be a resource and provide information to help the homeowners make a successful transition from renting or leasing to homeownership. Members assist families from the beginning of their sweat equity hours through the first three to six months of homeownership (depending on the needs of the family).

Site Selection Chair: JC Rodgers
Identify potential sites, evaluate sites' availability and appropriateness, evaluate sites suitability for affiliate's basic house plans, develop a site acquisitions criteria policy for board approval, implement the board-approved site acquisition policy and maintain acquired sites.
