Joan Hallmark.

A
national sponsor of Habitat for the past four years, Home Interiors
and Gifts has generously donated $50,000 to sponsor one Smith County
home.
The HIG sponsorship honors the company's legacy of
empowering women and celebrating home life by inviting a local female
celebrity to participate.
Habitat
is proud to have Joan Hallmark of KLTV as our local celebrity
volunteer. A native East Texan, Joan is an award-winning television
news and feature reporter and producer.
She currently hosts two
popular programs, "Proud of East Texas" and "Freedom Fighters".
The
family who will purchase the new home is a single mother and daughter
who currently live in a one-bedroom apartment with a leaky roof.
The
mother sleeps on the sofa in this unsafe neighborhood. After
qualifying for the Habitat program in 2008, she has been diligently
putting in her "sweat equity" hours constructing other people's
homes.

current cost to build one Habitat house in Smith County depending on
the lot location and floor plan layout is between $60,000 - $70,000.
An estimated 30,000 people in Smith County could qualify for the
Habitat program based on income alone.

the anticipated closing in July, our future homeowner counts Habitat
as a true blessing in their lives, with our no-interest mortgage and
affordable payment plan.
