Types of Volunteer Opportunities
Construction Crews
Construction crews are the heart of Habitat for Humanity. No previous
experience is necessary to volunteer. Each house will have a leader to
instruct volunteers and all the tools and safety equipment our
volunteers will need.
Lunch Crews
Members of the lunch crew are an incredibly important part of the
building process and are greatly appreciated by our volunteers and
construction staff. Members of the lunch crew provide food, beverages
and paper products for approximately 30 volunteers on any scheduled
build day. Providing lunch for one house (30 volunteers) is worth 10
hours of community service.
Weekday Crews
Our weekday crews consist of skilled crewmembers that work on the work
site or in our warehouse on Wednesdays and Thursdays. These crews
follow the same guidelines as our other construction volunteers;
however, we do not provide lunch on these days.
Volunteer Services Assistant
This is an ideal position for volunteers who want to be on the worksite
but, due to physical limitations, cannot participate in construction.
This volunteer will help the Volunteer Coordinator with service duties
such as signing in volunteers, mailings and orientations.
Habitat Home Center(formerly the ReStore)
Volunteers are used to answer phones, post community service hours,
assist customers and stock shelves. Volunteers are also used to man
booths at special events for the Home Center.
Office
Volunteers in the office assist with answering phones, data entry, filing, bulk mailing, etc.
