About Us

Volunteer

Picture Habitat for Humanity. What do you think of? Most of us imagine saws, sanding, shingles, and sheet rock. It's true that good old construction is the backbone of our mission. However, hundreds of Habitat for Humanity's volunteers never buckle on a tool belt! Our behind-the-scenes volunteers serve on committees, help out in the ReStore, mentor families, and help out in our office. To learn more, call 903-595-6630 ext 10 or click the button below and sign up using our online scheduler.

House construction generally takes place on Saturdays from  8 a.m.-2:00 p.m.  At a build site you may be involved in any number of tasks including framing, shingling, hanging drywall, siding, painting, or even landscaping.

Lunch Preparation
You can volunteer to provide meals for hungry volunteers.  These are often the heroes of the construction site since volunteers look forward to lunch and fellowship with their building partners.

ReStore
The ReStore is a building materials thrift store. Donated items are sold to the public at low-cost prices.  Proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity of Smith County. Volunteer opportunities are available Tuesday-Saturday, 9 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.  Activities may include  pickup/stocking inventory, organizing inventory stock, and assisting with customers.

Committees
Other ways you can assist the Habitat partnership are by participating on Committees that spread the habitat message to the community. Please visit our committees page for more information.

Habitat Office
The Habitat for Humanity of Smith County office is open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.  Activities may include data entry, copying, filing, cleaning, and assembling mailings for distribution.
